Title: Five Times Johnny Kissed First and One Time He Didn’t
Author:
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Johnny/Reed
Summary: Johnny had always been the one to start it. Always. Except for one time. Maybe he would let Reed go first more often.
Disclaimer: Don't own. Boo. Tis saddening.
Author's Notes: Sigh. The 'fourth time' is my least favorite one, but all the other ones are good. Especially two and three. Oh yes.

Reed was normally the first one awake, so he was confused to see Johnny shuffle into the room – shirtless – rubbing sleepily at his eyes, letting out a yawn that didn’t need to be as noisy as it was. Stretching, he ignored Reed’s staring and slightly smiled, as if he got up this early everyday.
“Uh… Johnny.”
“Yes, Reed.”
“You’re up early.” Reed turned back to pouring his coffee, now making sure it was up to the brim. He then sighed, realizing there was no room for milk and he would have to drink it black. And he hated his coffee black. “Any particular reason, or just to annoy me more?” He didn’t mean to be so terse. Not yet anyway. He just really liked a quiet morning with his non-black coffee, toast, and paper. And not this.
“Oh, there’s a reason.” And suddenly, Johnny had snuck up next to him, so when Reed turned, coffee pot still in hand, he started to see their faces so close, that damn smirk of Johnny’s still gracing his face. Reed hated being so close to him like this, for reason’s he would never, ever, ever admit to Sue. Reasons that involved complicated dreams and long evenings in the bathroom while everyone was out to make him forget about it all.
This could not be good. At all.
“Johnny…” Reed warned, trying to slip by, but finding it hard has Johnny had him trapped in a corner and too rapt to even think of using his power. Stupid counter, Reed growled in his head as he backed into it, Johnny practically on top of him. Clutching the pot still, now slightly shaking, Reed felt Johnny lean in – no questions, no explanations – and suddenly, lips were on his own, soft and slightly parted. He was warm, and Reed found himself, instead of pushing him away, closing his eyes and taking it. He found himself changing stupid counter to great counter in a matter of seconds.
That morning, he drank his coffee black, munched burnt toast and just kind of stared off into the distance.

It had been a very long time since Reed willingly got drunk. Willingly being the main word there, as the last time was when Sue wanted him asleep for once in over a week and continually spiked his juice on Friday night, which Johnny made sure to laugh at him about the next morning when he woke up with an unexplainable hangover. But now. Now he wanted to be drunk.
They had stopped some huge robbery (or was it a mass murder?) and Ben went back to Alicia and Johnny made faces at Sue until she finally agreed to stay behind and deal with the paperwork. Johnny had then literally dragged Reed behind him and ignored his whining, which soon stopped once he had a couple shots down. Neither were sure how they got home in one piece, but Reed may have remembered something about Johnny flying him there. He wasn’t burnt though… oh, right. They were still in their suits.
Once there, Reed tiredly got into comfortable clothes and lugged his feet into the livingroom to see Johnny had already changed and was lazily lounging on the couch sipping on his god-knows-what-number beer, watching a blank TV screen, smiling. Reed plopped down, relaxing against the cool leather, realizing he was pretty darn drunk to not care that Sue wasn’t home yet. Probably held up by rabid fans. Or maybe went out for a drink herself… wait. This was Sue.
“What’re you smilin’ about?” Reed asked, giving Johnny an out-of-character nudge on the shoulder. Looking up, Johnny shrugged.
“Dunno. I’m really tired.”
“Well. You did good tonight.”
“Really?”
“Yep. I think so anyway. I do.” Reed enforced his statement as if Johnny had disagreed with him. Nodding his head, he stopped when the man next to him stopped smiling and sat up from leaning on his elbow. “Wait… what?” His question wasn’t answered with words, but rather a hand on his cheek and a kiss on his lips that started out careful and quiet, but soon became hungrier and ferocious. Fleeting thoughts of Sue could walk in any minute jumbled with this is amazing, so what Reed could eventually distinguish was one long sentence somewhat like: Sue could this walk in amazing any minute Johnny.
Johnny was on top of him, pushing him down against the arm rest, tongues tangling together, breathy moans coming from both of them at the same time, hands roaming.
By the time Sue burst through the front door, a cheesy movie was playing on the television and Johnny and Reed had fallen asleep on each other in a way that made her raise an eyebrow, but have enough trust with both her brother and fiancée to think nothing of it.

Sue had just stepped into the shower and Reed glanced at the clock beside his bed, figuring he had at least a half hour or more before she was done with everything to get some extra calculating done before bed. Whipping his glasses on in a much too dramatic way for crunching numbers, he pulled the covers up to his waist and placed the pile of papers on his knees, pencil poised and ready to write.
About halfway through, the water was still running (she’d been in there 10 minutes. And he wondered why she complained the water bill was so high) and Reed was beginning to see double. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he looked up to hear the bedroom door silently creak open and was surprised to see Johnny peek his head in. Obviously seeing (or not seeing) what he wanted, he snuck in and stood at the end of the bed, shirt not so randomly missing, just looking at Reed.
And Reed knew that look. He had seen it before when Johnny eyed a girl he wanted. It was a lusty ‘god-I-want-you-now’ look. It was the same one he gave Reed last Thursday and Reed was still vaguely uncomfortable about what happened with it (although it was quite… exhilarating).
“Johnny…” Reed whispered, raising his eyebrows, pointing his eraser at the closed door. He didn’t need to say anymore – didn’t usually have to – and Johnny would pout, but walk away. But this time, Johnny didn’t care. Actually, knowing Johnny, he probably found this more adrenaline worthy because Sue was right in the next room. He was busy contemplating this and didn’t notice that Johnny had begun to crawl towards him, up the sheets, a now cocky smile, the muscles in his back working with every motion.
By the time Reed paid attention, Johnny was right near him and tossing the papers to one side. Reed groaned, but his focus was taken off of the mess when fingers dipped under his chin, pulling his head up. Gently taking off Reed’s glasses, Johnny moved closer, putting his hands on either side of Reed and leaned against his legs, taking in Reed’s lips, immediately pushing his tongue inside. Reed wrapped an arm around the younger man’s neck and shut his eyes, lowering his knees, laughing into Johnny’s kiss as he nearly fell at the sudden loss of stability. Catching himself, he began to scoot nearer, pulling on the fabric of Reed’s shirt, harshly moaning.
When Reed heard the shower stop, he was about to shove Johnny away, reluctantly tell him to leave and clean up his papers, but Johnny whispered against his lips, teeth clinking, hot breath mixing with his own.
“Fuck, Reed, take me now.”
Sue stepped out of the bathroom 15 minutes later to find Reed missing. Too tired to look, she figured he was in the lab once again and crawled into bed, not waiting for him to return to fall asleep.

This ‘mission’ as Ben liked to call them, had been one of their more dangerous ones in awhile, with multiple cars and trucks flying, heavy objects being tossed and a lot of shooting. At one point in the fight, Reed went flipping through the air and buried off in the distance. Johnny had angrily fought off the attack – one of the last ones – and dusted his hands off, quickly scanning the area for Reed. If he was hurt…
Panic twanged his heart when he saw no signs of him, and he swallowed, taking a few steps forward, ready to run around like a maniac looking under every fallen car and piece of concrete. Sue noticed the worry and place a hand on his shoulder, giving a none helpful smile. Johnny was about to freak when Ben called their attention and pointed with a thick finger at a figure coming their way.
“We did it, huh?” Ben laughed and clapped Reed’s shoulder. Sue looked at Reed and smiled warmly, nodding her head slightly, eyes twinkling. Johnny slipped an arm around Reed’s shoulder and shouted.
“Ha! We kicked so much ass. WHOO!” he pumped his fist in the air excitedly, making the other three laugh and shake their heads, only to have them stop when, in his excitement, Johnny leaned over and gave Reed a kiss that wasn’t heavy, but definitely lingering – extremely lingering – and Sue probably would have laughed it off as one of Johnny’s ‘in the moment and it’ll embarrass Reed’ things, but Reed seemed to like it and almost return it.
Pulling back, Reed’s cheeks blushed and he moved Johnny far away, pretending he didn’t enjoy it.
“Johnny! What the hell?” he fake reprimanded, hoping it was enough to convince Sue. She crossed her arms, but seemed to accept it.
“You’re so odd sometimes Johnny.” She shook her head and walked away to help with civilians.
Reed glared at Johnny and Ben smacked him upside the head.

They were arguing. Yelling about what they’ve been doing the past few weeks, Reed about hiding it from Sue and Johnny about the fact that if Reed really loved Sue, he would “make up his fucking mind and either stop and pretend it never happened or tell her already”. Reed responded that it had gotten too complicated for them to completely stop and forget. If they were only kisses, sure, but they had done more, definitely done more and how was he expected to forget that?
“I do! I do it all the time!” Johnny gestured widely with his arm, causing Reed to only roll his eyes.
“That’s because you only sleep with them once! We’ve done this three times. Three times Johnny! And that’s not even including the times you kissed me.”
“Oh. I had no idea you were keeping a tally.” Johnny sarcastically remarked, hands on his hips, eyes narrowed. They had been simply watching a movie when Johnny had cracked a joke about Sue discovering their escapades and it set Reed off. And here they were screaming at each other, both glad no one was home once again to overhear them.
“No, Johnny. That’s your job, to keep score. Isn’t it?”
“What?”
“You think all of this is some kind of game! This… thing with me. It’s always been about what you want and not how I feel about it!” Reed signaled to himself, his voice rising as he took a few steps forward. Johnny looked stunned for a moment, taking a step back.
“I never heard you, not once, tell me to stop. I figured that was a pretty round-about way of you sayin’ that you wanted it!” he started yelling just because Reed was, feeling, despite this, suddenly very small. That seemed to stop Reed though as his face fell, eyes getting angry. What was he supposed to say to that? Maybe he didn’t have to say anything… and with that, he unexpectedly – and uncharacteristically – slammed his fist into Johnny’s face. It really hurt his hand, which he wasn’t expecting either, when he didn’t use his powers and was shocked that he had that in him. Johnny stumbled back slightly, holding his soon to be bruised face. His eyes were wide, but flaming and Reed could feel the heat radiating off of him.
“You son-of-a bitch!” he yelled jumping forward, hitting back, knocking Reed backwards. They fought for awhile, only hitting in places they knew would hurt until they stood there, panting, clutching their wounds. Suddenly, something changed in Johnny’s entire face and he was charging forward again. Reed, thinking that he was going to be struck at again tried to move away and was surprised when Johnny pushed their lips together instead.
Reed figured much later that if Johnny hadn’t kissed first they would probably still be beating each other up.

“Hey. Johnny.” Reed quietly padded into the livingroom where the man he called out to was busy trying to ignore him, watching television and drinking a beer. It was a week after they had fought and they were both still on edge with each other, some reason Johnny more than Reed, but no one else had seen anything different for which both men were relieved of. Reed still wanted them to be okay. He just didn’t really know how.
It was one of those rare moments where everyone was there but busy doing their own thing, which made Reed more than a little flustered about talking about this with Johnny, but he didn’t know when he might get another chance alone with him. Especially since Sue seemed to be coming down with a cold and would probably be home for a few days. He cleared his throat, but Johnny was very good at ignoring him, even when Reed took a heavy seat on the couch.
“Johnny… c’mon.”
Without turning his head or lifting a finger, Johnny finally answered. “What?”
“What I said… what you said a few days ago…” Reed eyed the slowly fading bruise on Johnny’s jaw and sighed.
“Whatever.”
“Johnny…”
“I’m trying to watch this… thing.” Johnny pointed at the screen and Reed glanced over. It was HGTV. He highly doubted that this was actually something Johnny was interested in watching. It seemed, mostly that Johnny had heard Reed coming and just flicked something on. Reed laughed but stayed silent and leaned back, staring mindlessly at the house-makeover show that was on.
The show was done a lot faster than they expected and Reed, looking up from his hands saw that Johnny hadn’t turned to look at him the entire time.
“Hey. Look at me.”
“Mhm?”
“I said, look at me.” And Reed waited. And waited. And when he was just about to go stand in front of Johnny and force him to look, Johnny turned his head and blinked.
“What?”
“I’m sorry I hit you. A lot.” Reed carefully smiled and, not waiting for Johnny to say anything in retaliation, reached out and kissed him.
It was different than all the other times that Johnny had started it, when he just pushed himself on to Reed. Johnny kinda liked it, he decided as he dropped his empty bottle on the carpeted floor and closed his eyes.
Maybe he would let Reed go first more often.

This was really, really great. I loved it. Johnny/Reed=fantastically hot, and now I want to see the 2nd movie, although I probably won't be able to.

I adore your writing--the little asides and actions make this immensely enjoyable--but I especially like the continuity between the kisses. It lets it flow much better than these things usually do.
Great stuff!
